Janet Brigham merges two skill sets: scientific research and writing/editing. She brings a previous career as a journalist, writer, and editor to her research interests, as author and co-author of two books about nicotine and tobacco, an editor of a scientific journal (managing editor, 2006 to 2009), and more recently as editor-in-chief of an award-winning newsletter.

Dr. Brigham's research work has explored the factors that lead to and sustain tobacco use, as well as determining efficacious ways to study tobacco use across a person’s lifespan. Other interests include psychometrics and risk factors; epigenetics and genealogy; and the history of mental health treatment.
