The Development and Pilot Testing of an Intensive Tier 3 Intervention in the Early Grades

Researchers are developing and testing an intensive reading intervention for students in kindergarten through second grade (K–2) for whom supplemental reading instruction has not been helpful.

Dr. Kosty is collaborating with Boston University research scientists to develop and test an intensive reading intervention for K-2 students. The intervention is designed for students who inadequately respond to effective core and supplemental reading instruction.The program is focused on building word reading skills and will be tested in classrooms in Oregon and Pennsylvania. Over the course of the four-year project, students and teachers from 16 classrooms will help the researchers determine the usability, feasibility, and benefit of the intervention.

This is a subaward with Boston University from the U.S. Department of Education.
