Quantitative Methods in Education
Dr. Christopher Desjardins is currently an Associate Scientist at Oregon Research Institute and an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics at Saint Michael’s College. Dr. Desjardins received a PhD in Quantitative Methods in Education from the Department of Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2013 and a MS in Statistics from the University of Minnesota in 2012. He completed a post-doc at the University of Iceland in ecosystem modeling/statistics, where he implemented a large-scale ecosystem model for the Icelandic waters. He has worked as a Research Associate at the Research Methodology Consulting Center and the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement at the University of Minnesota. He is a committed interdisciplinary researcher with interests in applied statistics, statistics education, data visualization, and programming in R. He recently published a book on psychometrics and R titled “Handbook of Educational Measurement and Psychometrics Using R” and is currently working on a book on big data in R.
