Dr. Sarah E. Hampson was a Senior Scientist at the Oregon Research Institute for over three decades, and is now retired as a Scientist Emerita. She was a distinguished scientist in the field of personality research and during her ORI tenure she led ORI's studies in personality and health over the lifespan. Before moving to ORI in 1987, she held academic appointments at the University of Lancaster and Birkbeck College of the University of London. From 1995 - 2009, she was also Professor at Psychology and Health at the University of Surrey, UK. She has also held visiting appointments at San Diego State University, the University of Illinois, the University of Salamanca, and the University of Dundee.
